Music at Brotherhood
Music is the beating heart of every spiritual community and nowhere is that truer than at Brotherhood. Led by our cantor, Isaac Yager, our services offer a mixture of melodies old and new presented in an inviting, participatory style. Throughout the year, we present world-class concerts, both indoor and out, in casual cabaret settings, in our peaceful courtyard or in our stately sanctuary. Music infuses the life of our Hebrew and nursery schools, as well.
Harmoni - AH!
Harmoni - AH!
Our philosophy calls upon and gently encourages every member of the kahal to discover and lend his/her unique voice to our worship, whether you know the words or not. In that vein, our Harmoni-AH! community choir is open to all regardless of musical or Hebrew background. Unlike traditional synagogue choirs that stand in the front and “perform,” a style that has long since lost its appeal for most modern Jews, Harmoni-AH! “blends into the pews.” Members of the choir sit among their fellow worshippers and support the learning of new tunes to encourage greater congregational participation.
Shabbat Koleinu is one of the newest additions to our slate of musical programs. Though we do not allow instrumental music at services after sundown, summertime brings with it the irresistible beat and pulsing rhythms of the Koleinu Ensemble for our Kabbalat Shabbat services.
Our concert series offers our community the ability to experience both contemporary and classical forms of sacred music. These concerts take place throughout the year.
