Brotherhood Synagogue

Our Board of Directors and Reopening Task Force, under the guidance of our medical advisors, have implemented several policies to protect our community during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Our policies follow the principle of pikuach nefesh, the directive to preserve human life, while also enabling us to come together as a community to pray, learn and socialize.

Our policies are currently as follows (subject to change as the situation changes):

  • Entrance into the building for all people ages 5 and over is limited to those who are fully vaccinated. Mask wearing is optional at this time.
  • Our security staff are directed to request proof of vaccination status (CDC vaccination card or NY Excelsior pass) and deny access to those who cannot
    present it.
  • Events in our Community Room are being held at a limited capacity. If you are planning to host an event, please contact the Reopening Task Force (reopen@brotherhoodsynagogue.org) to discuss the current protocols.
  • Please do not enter our building unless you can answer no to the following 3 questions:

 1. Are you feeling ill today?

2. Have you tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 14 days?

3. Have you been in close contact with anyone with COVID-19 in the past 14 days? (Admission to the building is acceptable if you have had a negative COVID test five or more days post-exposure).

If you have any questions about our policies, please contact the Reopening Task Force at reopen@brotherhoodsynagogue.org.
